Huntington Creek Recovery Center has been a trusted provider of experiential-based therapies for addiction and co-occurring disorders since 1972. Our residential program provides a transformative experience for adult men and women, ages 18 and above.
Patient Profile
Huntington Creek Recovery Center’s Residential Treatment Facility Program for Adults (RTF-A) is a safe and supportive treatment environment for adult men and women, ages 18 and above, who have been struggling with a primary mental health diagnosis.
The goal of our residential mental health program for adults is to promote psychiatric stabilization and to provide a recovery-based setting for reintegration into the community.
Services in the RTF-A are ideal for men and women who are stepping down from an inpatient program or whose mental health needs do not mandate acute inpatient care.
In order to be accepted into our residential mental health treatment program, you or your loved one must meet the following criteria:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness
- Have a history of multiple hospitalizations, admissions into similar treatment programs, or a recent inpatient stay with an unsatisfactory outcome
- Capable of being safely diverted to a less restrictive level of care than that which is provided in a hospital setting
- Require a 24-hour, supervised treatment environment
- Program Features
Mental health programming at Huntington Creek Recovery Center is focused on recovery, rehabilitation, and education. When you are admitted to into our care for mental health services, you will benefit from around-the-clock supervision, as well as individualized clinical interventions and psychiatric rehabilitation principals that are targeted to specific symptoms and/or behaviors.
Elements Included in Our Program
Depending upon your specific needs and goals, your treatment in our mental health program may include the following elements:
Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation – When you are admitted to our RTF-A, you will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. This will ensure that the members of your treatment team have a complete understanding of the challenges you are experiencing and can create the most effective, personalized treatment plan for you.
Medication management – One of the many benefits of healing at Huntington Creek Recovery Center is that we provide 24-hour nursing care. If our psychiatrist determines that your recovery will be enhanced by having certain prescription medications included in your personalized treatment plan, members of our nursing team are available to provide medication management services.
Individual therapy – Throughout your time in our RTF-A, you will have regular opportunities to participate in one-on-one therapy sessions with your primary therapist or another member of our professional clinical staff. Typically scheduled at least twice per week, individual therapy is an optimal environment in which to process successes and setbacks, address issues you may be hesitant to bring up in a group setting, and receive personalized feedback from a professional who is closely involved with your treatment.
Group therapy – Groups are an essential component of treatment in our RTF-A. While in a group, you will have the chance to share your thoughts and insights while also learning from the experiences of others, with the guidance and supervision of experienced professionals. Our groups are also designed to promote healthy interaction and productive socialization among all participants. You will increase your knowledge in a variety topics related to your health while also becoming more familiar and comfortable with the group process.
Experiential therapy – Individual, group, and family therapies fall under the umbrella term of “talk therapy.” Experiential therapy typically features activity-based, hands-on opportunities in a non-clinical, recreational setting. These forms of therapy provide you with an alternative means of addressing and processing issues that have been preventing you from living a healthier life. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, experiential therapy can also promote positive interpersonal interactions, peer support, and teamwork.
The medical and therapeutic aspects of treatment in our RTF-A are complemented by 12-Step education and our series of core lectures and exercises. These efforts help to ensure that you will develop the knowledge and self-help capabilities that will be essential to your continued recovery after you have transitioned out of our care.
Types of Therapy
To further customize your care, our professionals may employ a range of therapeutic modalities in your treatment, including but not necessarily limited to the following:
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT)
- Choice (reality) therapy
- Behavior therapy
- Milieu therapy
- Extensive Discharge Planning
At Huntington Creek Recovery Center, we understand that successfully completing residential treatment is just one step along the path of lifelong recovery. In order to best prepare you to achieve and maintain long-term recovery, we place great emphasis on planning for the weeks, months, and years that will follow your time in our care.
Within the first few days following your admission into our RTF-A, we begin planning for your discharge. Starting the discharge planning process early allows us to accomplish the following:
- Document the successes and setbacks that you experience while in residential treatment
- Identify your strengths as well as areas of concern
- List the professional referrals, community-based services, and other resources that will enable you to maintain and build upon the progress that you make while in our care.
Several factors are taken into consideration when planning for your continued success, including your financial resources, the stability of your home environment, your progress in treatment, legal concerns, motivation for continued recovery, the need for follow-up medical care, and any additional challenges that may exist.
As is the case with all aspects of treatment at Huntington Creek Recovery Center, you will be an active participant in the discharge planning process. If possible, your loved ones will also play a role in this process, as the support of friends and family members can have a significant impact on your continued recovery.
